Summer on the Gower always brings something special — but few sights stop people in their tracks quite like the Rhossili Sunflowers. With the first plants now starting to show, we’re gearing up for another season of bright yellow fields overlooking one of the most iconic coastlines in the UK.
The sunflower fields are located at Rhossili, close to Worm’s Head, not at our main farm. This spectacular clifftop setting has become a summer tradition for thousands of visitors, and we’re excited to say that viewing is expected to begin sometime in July, depending on how the crop continues to grow.
🌻 A Landscape Made for Sunflowers
Rhossili’s open coastal light and gentle sea breeze create the perfect conditions for sunflowers to thrive. These tall, sunseeking plants follow the arc of the sky, turning their faces toward the light — a natural behaviour called heliotropism.
It’s one of the reasons they look so striking on the headland, glowing gold against the deep blues and greens of the bay.
As the season progresses, the fields transform into a sea of colour, offering some of the most photographed views anywhere in Wales.
🌻 More Than Sunflowers: Wildflowers, Lavender & Nature Trails
This year, visitors can enjoy plenty of wildflowers dotted around the area, adding splashes of purple, pink and white to the landscape. There’s also a small amount of lavender beginning to show, bringing soft colour and a gentle scent to the walk.
A nature trail will also be available, giving families and walkers a chance to explore the area, spot wildlife and learn more about the plants growing along the coastline.
Whether you’re here for photos, a peaceful stroll or a day out with the kids, there’s something for everyone.
🌊 Rhossili: One of the World’s Great Coastal Views
While the sunflowers are the star of the show, the surrounding area is just as breathtaking:
- Worm’s Head — the dragonshaped tidal island that marks the western tip of the Gower
- Rhossili Beach — regularly voted one of the best beaches in the world
- The South Gower Coast Path — perfect for walkers, photographers and wildlife lovers
- Clifftop views stretching across the bay, especially stunning at sunset
It’s a place where nature takes centre stage, and the sunflower fields add a burst of summer magic to an already unforgettable landscape.
